Zamfara Governor Presents19 New Emirs with Staff of Office and Official Vehicles

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has officially inaugurated 19 newly coronated emirs, presenting them with staff of office and official vehicles in a grand ceremony held at the Trade Fair Complex in Gusau.

Dignitaries including the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, and the Etsu Nupe graced the event, marking a significant moment in the state’s traditional leadership.

Governor Lawal administered oaths to the newly appointed first and second-class emirs, emphasizing their vital role in governance.

Each emir received three official vehicles to facilitate their duties: a 2025/2026 GAC Ultra SUV, a Mikano ZNA Hilux, and an EV Antique Model car.

The vehicles are intended to enhance communication within their communities and improve coordination with government agencies.

In his address, Governor Lawal highlighted the importance of the traditional institution as a cornerstone of society.

The staff of office symbolizes the authority and responsibility entrusted to you, he stated, urging the emirs to govern with fairness, integrity, and compassion.

He called on the traditional rulers to ensure that their palaces remain accessible to the public and to uphold justice within their jurisdictions.

This commitment to transparency and community engagement was a key theme of his speech.

Moreover, Lawal reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to rehabilitating royal palaces, reinforcing the traditional institution's significance in state governance.

He urged the new emirs to maintain a constructive partnership with the government and to use their vehicles responsibly.

Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar echoed the governor’s sentiments, advising the emirs to uphold loyalty to the constituted authority and to respect the dignity of their roles.

His remarks reinforced the collaborative spirit between traditional rulers and the state government.

This ceremony underscores Zamfara State's efforts to strengthen ties with traditional leadership, viewing them as essential stakeholders in promoting peace and development.

As the newly appointed emirs embark on their responsibilities, the government hopes to enhance community relations and foster stability across the state.

The event marks a pivotal step in Zamfara's governance, highlighting a commitment to empowering traditional institutions while ensuring they effectively serve their communities.
