Zamfara Governor Launches 95km Road to Boost Security and Economy

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has inaugurated the construction of a vital 95km road in the Tsafe Local Government Area, aimed at enhancing transportation for local farmers and improving security in the region.

During the launch on Sunday, Lawal emphasized that the road will connect key communities, including Yandoton Daji, Cediya, and Tsafe, and includes the construction of five bridges.

The project will be executed in two phases: the first, covering 47km, has been awarded to SKY Construction Company, while the second phase, spanning 48km, will be handled by Setraco Construction Company Limited.

“This road is essential for our predominantly farming communities, and it will significantly boost the state’s economy,” Lawal stated.

The governor highlighted that the road project is a key intervention to restore peace and stability in Zamfara, directly addressing the challenges posed by insecurity in the area.

“Reconstructing this road will facilitate the movement of goods and improve the operational capacity of security agencies, enhancing their response to threats,” he added.

This initiative is part of a broader infrastructure renewal program across Zamfara, which also includes the Gusau–Magami–Dansadau Road and the Zurmi–Rukudawa Road.

Lawal underscored the importance of well-built roads for safe travel and efficient goods movement, linking infrastructure development to economic growth and community well-being.

The governor urged the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to ensure strict supervision and quality assurance in the construction process.

“Contractors must deliver value for money and craftsmanship that withstands the test of time,” he insisted.

Lawal expressed hope that this project will not only enhance transportation and security but also foster unity among communities in Zamfara.

With a commitment to timely completion, the governor reaffirmed the urgency of addressing long-standing infrastructure deficits in the state.

This road initiative represents a significant step toward improving the quality of life for residents and stimulating economic activities in the region.
