Tragic Loss: Adamawa LG Chairman Dies Just Months After Taking Office

Yahya Saidu, the chairman of Fufore Local Government Area in Adamawa State, has tragically passed away in a Kaduna hospital, merely three months after his inauguration.

The news of his death was met with shock and sorrow, as the Adamawa State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria expressed their grief in an official statement.

State ALGON Chairman Titus Obadiah described Saidu as a dedicated leader whose contributions to both Fufore and the broader state will be deeply missed.

“It is with a heavy heart that I received the news of Dr. Yahaya Saidu's passing,” Obadiah said.

He emphasized that Saidu's death is a significant loss not only to his family and constituents but to the entire state.

Saidu, who was sworn in on July 15, 2026, under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party, had already begun to make a mark in his role.

His sudden passing follows that of his predecessor, Shuaibu Babas, who died in office in April 2025.

Obadiah extended his condolences to Saidu's family, friends, and the residents of Fufore during this difficult time, offering prayers for comfort and strength to those affected.

The local government area is now faced with the challenge of continuing Saidu's work while mourning the loss of a leader committed to public service.

As tributes pour in from various stakeholders, discussions are expected to begin regarding his successor and the impact of this loss on ongoing initiatives within the local government.

The community is urged to come together to honor Saidu's legacy by continuing to support the development projects he championed.

His dedication to the people of Fufore will not be forgotten, and his passing serves as a reminder of the fragility of life in public service.
