Speaking at a gathering with the Non-Indigene Association of Ogun State, Egba Zone, which includes various ethnic groups such as the Igbo, Tiv, Calabar, and Arewa communities, Sowunmi emphasized the importance of unity and reliability among the non-indigene populace.
"You have never failed me," he remarked, appealing for their support based on their past collaboration. He underscored the need for a strong turnout during the elections, especially in Ogun Central, Ogun West, and Ogun East, to demonstrate Tinubu's backing in the South.
Sowunmi urged the community to mobilize its members and participate actively in campaigns and rallies, reiterating that support for Tinubu does not exclude future opportunities for other ethnic groups, particularly the Igbo, to aspire for the presidency.
"In the same way that we are appealing to you today to support Bola Tinubu, we will work hard until we see an Igbo man in that top seat," he stated, highlighting the reciprocal nature of political support.
Hon. Francis Nwanze, Chairman of the Non-Indigene Association, affirmed their commitment to Tinubu's re-election, stating that non-indigenes would show up in significant numbers during rallies to back the President.
A representative from the Igede Community also assured that their participation in the campaign would be robust, reinforcing the association’s call for greater inclusion of non-indigenes in government positions.
The meeting, a part of a series of engagements aimed at bolstering support for Tinubu, saw Sowunmi visiting other groups, including the Egba Tile Toko and Hunters Association, to garner further backing.
As the 2027 election approaches, Sowunmi's appeal aims to solidify a united front among diverse communities in Ogun State, emphasizing collaboration for mutual political gains.
