Makinde Campaign Blames Tinubu for Rising Insecurity Following NYSC Abduction

The Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO) has accused President Bola Tinubu of fostering an environment that emboldens terrorists and bandits, following the abduction of 19 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members traveling from Ibadan to their orientation camps in the South-East and South-South.

In a vigorous statement from its Director of Strategic Communications, Richard Ihediwa, the MDPCO condemned the growing insecurity under the Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration. They described the incident as emblematic of a broader failure to protect Nigerians, particularly the youth engaged in national service.

"It is profoundly saddening that under Tinubu's watch, parents sacrifice to educate their children, only for them to fall prey to criminal elements," the statement read.

The campaign organization highlighted that this abduction is just one of many incidents reflecting a nationwide security crisis, where communities, schools, and highways increasingly succumb to violence.

The MDPCO claimed over 600,000 Nigerians have been killed by terrorists and bandits during Tinubu's tenure, with countless others still held captive. "Nigeria is rapidly descending into a failed state, where the government has failed to fulfill its primary duty of ensuring citizen safety," they stated.

While acknowledging the sacrifices of security personnel, the organization criticized the Tinubu administration for lacking an effective, intelligence-driven security strategy. They urged the president to adopt the security measures implemented by APM presidential candidate Seyi Makinde in Oyo State, which focus on coordinated operations and preventive measures.

The MDPCO expressed confidence that Makinde possesses the necessary leadership qualities and experience to confront national security challenges effectively.

In light of the ongoing crisis, the campaign organization declared that Nigerians are determined to support Makinde in the upcoming presidential election on January 16, 2027, positioning him as a credible alternative to the current administration.

As the nation grapples with insecurity, the MDPCO extended its solidarity to affected families and called on citizens to remain resilient as they strive for a "reset" under a Makinde/Daura administration.
