In a statement released on Friday, Kola Ologbondiyan, Director of Media and Publicity for the ADC-PCC, emphasized the importance of participation, urging eligible voters not to be swayed by narratives suggesting their votes don't matter. He insisted that abstaining from the polls would only diminish their power to influence governance.
"Go and collect your PVC. Your voter’s card is your power and your guarantee that you will vote on January 16, 2027," Ologbondiyan declared. He accused the APC of fostering a climate of fear surrounding electoral integrity, claiming that the ruling party's dismal performance on issues like hunger, hardship, and insecurity leads them to promote doubt about the voting process.
“The APC knows it cannot win a free, fair and credible election after plunging Nigerians into hardship. That’s why it wants Nigerians to believe results will be predetermined. This is a lie. The era of writing results in hotel rooms is over,” he asserted.
Ologbondiyan pointed to recent electoral reforms, including the amended Electoral Act and the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), as critical tools that bolster the integrity of the voting process. He reassured voters that every polling unit would be safeguarded and that every vote would count.
“The determination among Nigerians to reclaim their country through the ballot is stronger than ever,” he added. The ADC-PCC is also calling on traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, and civil society organizations to mobilize communities in collecting PVCs and combatting voter apathy.
To ensure transparency, the ADC has pledged to deploy polling agents to every polling unit nationwide to monitor the election process closely and protect ballots from any attempts to undermine the people's mandate.
As the campaign heats up, the ADC is positioning itself as a formidable challenger to the APC, urging citizens to take an active role in shaping their political future.
