Yayi Reveals Plans for Late Actor Ogogo as Tourism Adviser

Senator Solomon Adeola, also known as Yayi, the Ogun State All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, recently expressed his deep admiration for the late Taiwo Hassan, affectionately known as Ogogo. During a condolence visit to Ogogo's family in Ilaro, Yayi revealed that he intended to appoint the veteran actor as his Special Adviser on Tourism and Culture if he wins the 2027 gubernatorial election.

Yayi described Ogogo as an elder brother and praised his significant contributions to the Yoruba cultural landscape. "I told God that if it is destined for me to be governor, my elder brother Ogogo will be my Special Adviser on Tourism and Culture," he stated. He believed that Ogogo's extensive experience and knowledge would greatly benefit the state’s cultural heritage.

Ogogo, who passed away on August 23, 2026, after a battle with stage-four cancer, was remembered fondly by Yayi. The senator lamented the loss, calling it a monumental blow to the creative and entertainment industry, and noted Ogogo's impactful career that spanned decades.

He recalled the challenges Ogogo faced during his illness, stating that he and others did everything possible to ensure he received medical care. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, Ogogo was called home by God.

Yayi acknowledged Ogogo’s remarkable talent, humility, and steadfast commitment to his craft, extending condolences to his family, friends, and the people of Ilaro. The late actor was buried following Islamic funeral rites, and his death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, political leaders, and fans alike.
