Tragedy Strikes as Five Family Members Laid to Rest After Kwara Building Collapse

In a heartbreaking incident, five members of the same family who perished in a building collapse in Ilorin, Kwara State, have been buried according to Islamic rites. The tragic event occurred at a two-storey building in the Popo Giwa area on Tuesday evening.

The bodies were recovered from the debris and interred at the Muslim Cemetery, Oko-Olowo, with the burial ceremony attended by family and community members. The janazah prayer was led by Prof. Abubakar Imam Ali-Agan, a respected Islamic scholar from the University of Ilorin.

During the sermon, Ali-Agan called on the community to place their faith in Allah and accept the divine will in all circumstances. He emphasized the inevitability of death and sought to comfort the grieving family by referencing the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, who spoke of tragic deaths as pathways to paradise.

The governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, was represented at the solemn occasion by Alhaji AbdulRazaq Jiddah, underscoring the state’s concern for the victims and their families.

Ali-Agan also urged the government to prioritize public education aimed at preventing future building collapses, advocating for better safety measures and adherence to construction regulations.
