Joint Security Forces Strike: Police Neutralize Terrorists in Kebbi Forest

In a significant operation, the Kebbi State Police Command, alongside military forces, has successfully neutralized suspected terrorists in Gumki Forest, Kangiwa, Arewa Local Government Area.

Conducted at approximately 6:05 AM on September 14, 2026, the clearance operation also resulted in the recovery of numerous arms and items linked to the criminal elements.

According to SP Bashir Usman, the Police Public Relations Officer, Gumki Forest is notorious for being a route utilized by bandits and terrorist groups in the region. 

During the operation, security forces engaged the terrorists, leading to the neutralization of several suspects. The recovered items included one PKT rifle with 174 rounds of live ammunition, an AK-47 rifle with 14 rounds, and various other equipment, such as motorcycles and military uniforms.

"The joint team successfully engaged and neutralized terrorist elements operating within the area," Usman noted, highlighting the operation's effectiveness.

The area is reported to be relatively calm following the operation, with security forces continuing clearance efforts to eliminate any remaining threats.

Commissioner of Police, Umar Hadejia, praised the operatives for their bravery and commitment to duty. He emphasized the importance of coordinated and intelligence-driven operations to combat banditry and terrorism across Kebbi State.

Hadejia urged local residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information, which could enhance ongoing operations against criminal elements.

The police assured the community that joint security operations would persist until all threats are eradicated from the forest and its surrounding routes.
