Badagry LG Chairman Calls on Christians to Champion Humanity

At the 45th anniversary celebration of the Christ Morning Star Society of Nigeria, held at the Cathedral Church of St. Thomas in Badagry, the Chairman of Badagry Local Government Area, Babatunde Humpe, urged Christians to embody the core values of Christ and be exemplary figures in both the Church and society.

Humpe, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the event, praised the society's commitment to God's work and encouraged members to continue their generous support for the Church and the community.

"I have observed your society's activities since my time as the People’s Warden of the church. Your dedication to God's work is commendable, and I urge you to keep it up," he stated.

He emphasized the need for the society to extend its charitable outreach beyond the Church, advocating for initiatives that enhance the welfare of local residents.

"As you support the work of God, continue to extend this love to humanity by collaborating with government efforts to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people," Humpe added. He expressed appreciation for the society's annual palliative programs that benefit the less privileged.

In his sermon, Ven. Dickson Ilegbusi, Dean of the Cathedral, commended the society's ongoing initiatives and urged members to reflect God's light through their actions and commitment to spreading the Gospel.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the Lagos Chapter, led by President Star Olusegun Sobowale, distributed food palliatives to indigent families in the church and surrounding community, showcasing their dedication to serving humanity.

Humpe concluded his address by stressing the importance of prayer and constructive engagement with local leaders, reminding attendees that the government cannot meet all community needs alone.

The event not only celebrated the society's history but also reinforced the call to action for Christians to actively participate in uplifting their communities.

As Badagry continues to grow, the message from Humpe resonates: a commitment to humanity is essential for a thriving society.
