DSS Sounds Alarm: Terrorists Plan Attacks on Osun Worship Centers Ahead of Elections

The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a serious warning to religious leaders in Osun State about potential terrorist attacks on places of worship and public gathering sites as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections. 

In separate meetings held with the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Muslim community, the DSS shared intelligence suggesting that terrorists plan to spread insecurity in the South-West region, aiming to disrupt the electoral process. 

Alhaji Mustapha Olawuyi, President of the Osun State Muslim Community, confirmed the meeting, noting the urgency for heightened vigilance among religious organizations. The DSS has advised against allowing unidentified vehicles to park near gatherings and recommended increased security measures, including night guards at mosques.

Pastor John Adeleke, Chairman of Osun CAN, echoed these concerns, emphasizing the need for churches and schools to implement strict security protocols. The DSS's alert aims to ensure the safety of worshippers, particularly during the critical election period.

Both religious leaders have been proactive in disseminating security advice to their communities, urging members to remain alert and report any suspicious activities. The DSS's intervention underscores the importance of collective vigilance in safeguarding public spaces as the nation prepares for the upcoming elections.
