In a statement, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesperson, announced that the operation is overseen by ACP Harrison Oruruo and involves deploying police personnel alongside other security agencies to designated schools.
The initiative aims to provide a secure environment for education, focusing on enhancing safety awareness among students and assisting them during peak hours for arrival and dismissal.
The police will maintain a visible presence around schools, monitor activities, and promptly address any security concerns that may arise. This collaborative effort also seeks to engage parents, teachers, and local communities in identifying potential threats early.
CP Nnanna Ama, the Commissioner of Police, emphasized the importance of vigilance among school authorities, parents, and students. He urged them to report any suspicious activities to the police to ensure a safe learning environment.
“The security of our children and educational staff is paramount,” he stated, reinforcing the need for shared responsibility among all stakeholders.
The police command reassured the community of its commitment to ongoing security enhancements, intelligence-led policing, and proactive responses to potential threats in educational institutions.
As schools resume, the Anambra State Police Command wishes all students, teachers, and school staff a safe and successful academic year.
