In a press briefing on Thursday, TSU ASUU Chairman Dr. Joshua Garba Mbave announced the decision, emphasizing that the ultimatum is a formal demand rather than an invitation for renegotiation.
"The patience of our lecturers should not be misconstrued as capitulation," Mbave stated, urging the state government and university authorities to promptly address the pending issues.
The ultimatum follows directives from ASUU's National Executive Council, reflecting growing frustration over the government’s non-compliance with the ASUU-Federal Government 2025 Agreement.
“The union deems the continued neglect of this agreement unacceptable and inconsistent with the principles of good-faith negotiation,” he added.
Mbave highlighted the critical nature of honoring agreements reached through established negotiation processes, insisting they should be implemented within reasonable timeframes.
The 14-day notice, effective from August 13, 2026, will conclude on August 26, 2026.
Among the key demands outlined by the union are the immediate and full implementation of all outstanding provisions of the ASUU-FGN 2025 Agreement, as well as the payment of all financial arrears from January 2026 to the present.
He expressed hope that the state government and university management would act swiftly to prevent disruption of academic activities.
As the deadline approaches, the pressure is mounting on the Taraba State Government to avert a potential strike that could impact thousands of students.
