Sanwo-Olu Strengthens Traditional Institutions with New Monarchs in Kosofe and Ibeju-Lekki

In a significant move to bolster traditional leadership in Lagos State, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has officially installed two new monarchs in the Kosofe and Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Areas.

 This initiative is part of the administration’s commitment to enhancing and empowering traditional institutions across the state.

The ceremonial presentation of the Staff of Office and Instruments of Appointment took place at the Kosofe Local Government Secretariat. 

Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, represented Sanwo-Olu during the event. He was accompanied by Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development.

His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa Oba Kabiru Adesegun Bashir, was installed as the Olu of Oko Baba Agba in Kosofe, receiving accolades from community members and state officials alike. 

In a parallel ceremony, Dr. Agbaje presented the Staff of Office to His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa Oba Adeleke Ayinde Nasir, who was named the Alajasa of Lagasa Community in Ibeju-Lekki. Both monarchs are now tasked with the responsibility of guiding their communities toward sustainable growth.

Governor Sanwo-Olu extended his heartfelt congratulations to the residents of both communities, emphasizing the importance of the new monarchs in fostering unity and progress. 

He urged the traditional rulers to uphold the dignity and sanctity of their thrones, recognizing their vital role in local governance.

The Governor called on the monarchs to align their initiatives with the Lagos State Government's policies aimed at creating a 21st Century Economy. 

He stressed the necessity for collaboration with local government authorities, other traditional leaders, and stakeholders to ensure peace and security.

Sanwo-Olu’s administration believes that strong traditional leadership is crucial for community development and a vital component in the quest for a greater Lagos. 

By empowering these new monarchs, the state aims to establish a framework for sustainable development in line with modern governance practices.

With the installation of these new leaders, the Lagos State Government reaffirms its commitment to enhancing the role of traditional institutions in societal development. 

As the new monarchs take on their responsibilities, the communities of Kosofe and Ibeju-Lekki look forward to a renewed sense of hope and leadership.
