The estate, initially mired in legal disputes and financial setbacks, is set to be commissioned on Tuesday by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Located along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway, the estate was left incomplete by former Governor Ibikunle Amosun, with only basic infrastructure and a single show building established.
Governor Abiodun’s administration took decisive action to settle outstanding contractor payments and protect the state’s interests in the property.
Instead of abandoning the project, the state adopted a public-private partnership model, where the government provided land and infrastructure, while private developers took charge of the construction and sale of the housing units.
The completed estate features 108 four-bedroom detached and semi-detached duplexes, complete with modern amenities such as internal roads, street lighting, landscaped areas, water supply, waste management, a sports center, children’s playground, and 24-hour power supply—all within a secure, gated environment.
The fully detached houses span approximately 900 square meters and include spacious living areas, en-suite bedrooms, a family lounge, and other amenities.
Semi-detached units, measuring between 460 and 500 square meters, offer similar features but without a dedicated study.
Governor Abiodun highlighted the project as a testament to his commitment to completing inherited initiatives and providing quality, affordable housing for diverse residents.
He emphasized the importance of preserving public investments rather than allowing them to become abandoned assets.
Strategically situated opposite the State Judiciary Complex and near the Ogun TechHub, the estate boasts convenient access to key commercial and transport links.
It is a mere two minutes from the TechHub, seven minutes from the Government House, and approximately 30 minutes from Lagos.
The development has also attracted private-sector investment, with Access Bank planning to establish a training school within the estate.
This project represents a significant milestone for the state government, which has reportedly delivered over 5,000 housing units in various locations over the past seven years.
The commissioning of the Buhari Estate will mark a successful turnaround from a legal and financial quagmire to a thriving residential community, setting a model for future public-private housing initiatives in Ogun State.
