Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will coordinate the APC’s campaign in Rivers State and the FCT. Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, who recently won re-election under the Accord Party, will handle campaign efforts in Osun, while Soludo, the Governor of Anambra State representing the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), will oversee activities in Anambra.
This unusual coalition highlights the APC's strategy to expand its influence beyond its traditional strongholds. President Bola Tinubu, set to chair the council, aims to leverage these appointments to secure broader support for his re-election bid.
The expanded campaign council will also feature key figures within the APC, including Vice-President Kashim Shettima as vice-chairman and Nentawe Yilwatda, the party’s national chairman, as vice-chairman II. Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State, will serve as the secretary of the council.
In a bid to strengthen its grassroots mobilization, all 32 APC governors have been appointed as state coordinators for the campaign. Additionally, candidates in states where the APC does not hold the governorship have been chosen to lead local campaign efforts.
The announcement follows an earlier controversy surrounding the campaign council's composition, which had prompted clarifications from the Presidency. Special Adviser Sunday Dare confirmed that adjustments were in place to enhance the council’s structure without invalidating the initial list.
With the inauguration scheduled for Wednesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the APC is positioning itself to galvanize support and engage stakeholders effectively as it gears up for the 2027 elections.
This reorganization underscores the party's commitment to a diverse and inclusive campaign strategy, aiming to unite different political factions under one banner in a bid for electoral success.
