On his verified X handle, Tinubu stated, “Today, the rewards I promised our D’Tigress have been fully redeemed.” He emphasized the significance of these rewards: “For the first time, a Federal Government has fulfilled this scale of presidential sporting rewards in full within one year.”
The President highlighted the procedural diligence involved, saying, “We had to follow the processes required by law to ensure every commitment was properly implemented.” He reiterated the importance of keeping promises to athletes who have brought honor to Nigeria.
In addition to the D’Tigress, Tinubu also addressed the rewards for other national teams. He confirmed the completion of outstanding cash rewards for the Super Falcons, stating that players and officials have already received their house titles and National Honors certificates.
Furthermore, he assured that similar honors have been granted to Super Eagles players, emphasizing, “They deserve a country that keeps its word.”
Framing the payouts as a matter of national integrity, Tinubu said, “Our athletes who bring honor to Nigeria deserve more than applause. They deserve a country that keeps its word.”
He concluded with a heartfelt message: “My promise to every Nigerian athlete is to make Nigeria proud and return to a grateful nation. Congratulations once again, our athletes. Nigeria is proud of you.”
