Oba Ladoja, who will turn 82 on September 25 and celebrate one year on the throne on September 26, expressed his desire for the community to join him in seeking divine blessings for themselves and the city.
“I implore the people and friends of Ibadan to use these occasions to give thanks to God, rather than resort to elaborate merriment,” he stated. The Olubadan highlighted that his personal observance of these events will focus on prayer for the traditional institution and for Nigeria as a whole.
He expressed gratitude for the support he has received from the community over the past year, assuring them that the future holds promise for greater achievements. “The joy of the living is in the hope for better things,” he added.
In his message, he also called on friends and well-wishers to extend their generosity to those in difficult circumstances, particularly to motherless babies' homes, to spread the spirit of goodwill during this time.
