According to police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the incident unfolded at approximately 7:30 AM on September 11, 2026. Officers flagged down the vehicle for a security check, but the three occupants abandoned the car and fled upon seeing the police, raising suspicions.
Quickly responding, officers pursued the suspects, successfully apprehending Mosuru Issa, while the stolen vehicle was secured. Initial investigations revealed that the Camry had been stolen on September 7 from Ojo, Lagos State.
Babaseyi emphasized the effectiveness of proactive policing in detecting criminal activity and recovering stolen property. He also reiterated the importance of routine patrols and lawful stop-and-search operations in preventing crime on Ogun's highways.
Efforts are underway to locate the vehicle's owner and identify the fleeing accomplices. The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta for further investigation.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni praised the operatives for their diligence and professionalism, reiterating the command’s commitment to maintaining public safety and disrupting vehicle theft and highway crime.
