Makinde's Bold Vision for 2027: 'Our Votes Will Count!

 Seyi Makinde, the presidential candidate for the Allied Peoples' Movement (APM), addressed critics of his 2027 campaign, asserting that they cannot overlook the millions of Nigerians whose votes will shape the nation's future.

At the launch of the APM presidential campaign headquarters in Abuja, Makinde introduced the 'Reset Nigeria' initiative, emphasizing transparency and accountability in governance. He aims to ensure that the country’s wealth translates into improved living standards for its citizens.

On the contentious issue of petrol pricing, Makinde clarified that he does not advocate for a return to fuel subsidies. Instead, he insists that Nigerians should gain more direct benefits from the crude oil produced domestically. “Why should crude oil supplied to our refineries be priced as if we don’t produce it?” he questioned.

He stressed the need for clarity in how the final pump price is determined, urging for transparency across all sectors of the oil industry.

Makinde called for a broader civic engagement, inviting Nigerians to challenge ideas, share their perspectives, and become active participants in the political discourse. “We count. Our voices count. Together, our votes will count,” he declared.

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), expressed his support for Makinde, stating he is qualified to run for the presidency. Obi highlighted the importance of allowing the Nigerian populace to make their own choices in leadership.

APM's vice-presidential candidate, Lawal Daura, cautioned voters to distinguish between candidates who are legally qualified and those capable of winning elections, advocating for a focus on substantial issues rather than personal attacks.

Bala Mohammed, APM National Leader and Bauchi State governor, reinforced the seriousness of their campaign, warning that ignoring their movement would be a mistake.

Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, APM National Chairman, described the event as the kickoff for their campaign, emphasizing the party’s focus on solutions over political divisions. He highlighted Makinde's governance record and Daura's security expertise as key strengths of their ticket.

As the 2027 elections approach, the APM aims to resonate with the hopes and aspirations of Nigerians seeking a transformative leadership.
