The reconciliation took place at Ojusagbola in Ijebu, Ogun State, with several NURTW leaders in attendance. Kwam 1 announced the development via his Instagram page, sharing photographs from the momentous meeting.
“This is final,” the post declared, emphasizing that the longstanding feud had come to an end. “It was not just another handshake for the cameras; both men reconciled genuinely.”
Acting in his capacity as the Mayegun of Yorubaland, Kwam 1 sought to eliminate the division that had persisted between the two leaders for years. The post expressed that both parties were pleased with the outcome, marking a significant turning point for the union.
Historically, MC Oluomo and Tafa Sego were allies within the NURTW, but their relationship soured over leadership disputes. Their rivalry escalated to public altercations, notably during a violent APC campaign rally in January 2019, where both factions clashed, resulting in MC Oluomo being stabbed.
Despite previous conflicts, the two found themselves in the same NURTW leadership structure by September 2019. However, tensions resurfaced in 2024 when MC Oluomo resigned amid a power struggle that threatened to divide the union further.
This latest reconciliation follows a recent display of tension at Kwam 1's New Year All White Party in January 2026, where a public acknowledgment of MC Oluomo as the NURTW head caused a stir among Sego's supporters.
With this peace deal, Kwam 1 has not only restored harmony among the union's leaders but has also taken a significant step towards stabilizing the NURTW landscape in Lagos. The message is clear: unity is essential for progress.
