Exoneration of Gbajabiamila: House Committee Uncovers Fraud in Phantom Agency

The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee investigating the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) has cleared Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila of any wrongdoing, revealing a web of forgery and fraud linked to the questionable agency.

Led by Rep. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, the committee's preliminary findings indicate that the PFIPC was never lawfully established by the government. Key documents, including a letter appointing Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi as its Director-General, were found to be forged, lacking any authentic presidential sanction.

The investigation revealed that Gbajabiamila acted swiftly upon receiving alerts about the PFIPC's dubious activities, reaching out to multiple security and investigative agencies within a day. Instead of complicity, evidence shows he sought to initiate inquiries into the organization.

Among the alarming discoveries were a fake Presidential Executive Order and a mutilated document purporting to be a National Assembly Act, neither of which had passed through legitimate legislative channels. These fabrications posed a significant threat to the integrity of Nigeria's constitutional institutions.

The committee also identified a fraudulent letter requesting administrative codes for the PFIPC, purportedly signed by a nonexistent State House official, which misled vital financial institutions.

Further scrutiny revealed that the PFIPC operated from the Federal Secretariat without lawful authorization and employed around 39 individuals under questionable circumstances. Additionally, 58 bank accounts linked to Adeyemi raised concerns over potential financial misconduct, including a suspicious N400 million transaction.

The committee warned against impersonating government entities, emphasizing that such actions undermine Nigeria's constitutional framework. Their findings suggest that Adeyemi is the central figure in this alleged fraud, but the committee stressed that these are preliminary conclusions, pending further investigation.

As the inquiry continues, the committee plans to submit a final report detailing institutional responsibilities and recommending appropriate legal actions against those implicated. The findings clear Gbajabiamila of participation in the PFIPC, showcasing his proactive measures against the fraudulent organization.
