The hub, named to honor Moremi Ajasoro’s legacy, offers tuition-free training in high-demand areas such as artificial intelligence, graphic design, coding, and social media management. During the launch, Amosun emphasized the necessity of such programs, stating, “We don’t want our young ones in Osun State to be left behind in this digital age.”
With a capacity for 30 trainees at a time, the hub will host three daily sessions—each lasting two and a half hours—three times a week. Each training program spans six weeks, aiming to benefit approximately 360 young individuals per cohort.
Amosun highlighted that the curriculum focuses on commercially relevant skills, ensuring participants can secure employment immediately after completing their training. “We are teaching them marketable skills that are in demand,” she noted.
The center is envisioned as a sustainable alternative to traditional vocational training, with plans to continuously update its curriculum to meet evolving technological and market demands. This initiative will particularly cater to unemployed graduates and young technology enthusiasts seeking to enhance their competitiveness.
Olori Aderonke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi, the Global Ambassador of the Queen Moremi Ajasoro Initiative, echoed the importance of investing in digital skills to combat youth unemployment. She pointed out that the United Nations projects Africa will have around 450 million individuals under 35 by 2030, making youth skills development increasingly crucial.
Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi stressed that equipping young people with skills in AI and entrepreneurship can significantly boost their employability and enable them to create their own opportunities. With the number of annual graduates surpassing available white-collar jobs, digital skills offer alternative pathways for economic participation.
Olori Olayinka Folashade Ashley Ojaja Ogunwusi urged young people to seize this opportunity, praising Amosun for making technology training accessible without the usual financial burden. She encouraged future trainees to approach the program with dedication, emphasizing the importance of continuous self-development.
The event also featured the inauguration of a renovated Moremi statue at Obafemi Awolowo University and a homage paid to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, during the Olojo Festival, highlighting the cultural significance of the day.
Through this initiative, Osun State is taking a proactive step towards preparing its youth for the future, ensuring they are equipped to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
