Army Rescues 31 Kidnap Victims, Eliminate Terrorist Kingpin in Major Operations

Troops from the Joint Task Force North-West, operating under the code name Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully rescued 31 kidnapped victims and neutralized two terrorists, including a suspected kingpin, during recent operations in Kebbi and Katsina states.

On September 14 and 15, the troops undertook swift actions based on credible intelligence regarding terrorist activities. In Katsina, they pursued attackers who had abducted civilians from the Unguwan Daudu and Unguwan Chibauna communities, resulting in the rescue of 10 victims, including an infant.

In Kebbi State, troops responded to a distress call about an abduction in Fafala Village. Engaging in a fierce gun battle, they managed to rescue 21 victims, who were subsequently reunited with their families.

Further operations in Katsina on September 15 led to the elimination of two terrorists, one of whom was identified as Abbah Alhassan, a known kingpin in the area. This significant success underscores the military's commitment to combating terrorism.

During these operations, troops seized various items from the terrorists’ hideouts, including ammunition, a motorcycle, and other contraband. Additionally, two suspects were arrested in Dan Musa Local Government Area, linked to a notorious terrorist figure known as Mannori.

The Joint Task Force has urged local communities to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the authorities. They praised public cooperation, which has been instrumental in these successful missions.

These operations reflect a relentless effort to disrupt terrorist networks and safeguard the lives of citizens in the North-West region of Nigeria. The military's proactive stance aims to restore peace and security in the affected areas.
