In a statement signed by AAC Oyo State Chairman Kayode Babayomi, the party emphasized that their request is not an accusation against the government but a proactive measure to ensure public resources are not misused for political purposes.
“Oyo State belongs to all of us. Its resources must serve the people,” the statement read. The AAC expressed concerns about increasing expenditures linked to political events and campaign activities, urging the EFCC to maintain vigilance during this critical electoral period.
The petition, dated September 2026, highlighted specific developments, including expenditures related to political conventions and the establishment of a new campaign office in Abuja, warranting further scrutiny.
"We are demanding transparency, vigilance, and accountability," the AAC asserted. The party insists that public funds should remain in public hands and should not be diverted for electioneering.
While the AAC does not allege any specific wrongdoing, it stresses the importance of monitoring to prevent potential misuse of funds as the election nears. They seek a thorough investigation into any identified improprieties.
Governor Seyi Makinde, a presidential candidate under the Allied Peoples Movement, is preparing for the elections, adding urgency to the AAC’s concerns. The party reiterated that its petition is made “in good faith and solely in the public interest.”
The AAC remains committed to demanding clarity on how the state's resources are being utilized, emphasizing that the people of Oyo State deserve to know where their money is going.
