In a statement released by the PAP's Special Assistant on Media, Igoniko Oduma, the scholars were part of a larger cohort of 150 individuals who received pre-departure orientation last month. This latest deployment raises the total number of offshore postgraduate scholars supported by the PAP to 243 in 2026.
The scholars will pursue diverse fields including software engineering, cybersecurity, global public health, oil and gas engineering, law, fintech analytics, construction engineering management, forensic audit, and data science analytics.
PAP Administrator Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro urged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and represent Nigeria and the Niger Delta positively. He emphasized the importance of adhering to UK laws and institutional regulations throughout their academic tenure.
Otuaro also encouraged the scholars to return to their communities upon completion of their degrees, to utilize their acquired knowledge and skills for regional and national development.
He stated, “Education is the vehicle for socio-economic advancement and sustainable peace in the Niger Delta. Investing in the education of our youth is essential for a brighter future.”
The PAP Administrator credited President Bola Tinubu for his support under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which has facilitated these large-scale scholarship deployments. He also appreciated the Office of the National Security Adviser for its guidance and support.
Otuaro expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu for their contributions, stating, “Without their backing, these significant deployments would not have been possible.”
This initiative underscores the commitment to uplifting the Niger Delta through education and fostering a new generation of leaders equipped to drive change in their communities.
