In addition to the food bank, the First Lady inaugurated the Gateway Medical Centre of Excellence and the President Muhammadu Buhari Estate, highlighting a comprehensive approach to improving health and housing for citizens.
She urged state governors across the South-West to establish community food banks in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) to enhance their impact.
Senator Tinubu described the food bank as a sustainable solution to food insecurity, aligning it with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on food security, healthcare, and social welfare. Governor Dapo Abiodun praised the initiative, emphasizing the importance of translating government intentions into tangible benefits for citizens.
Minister of Agriculture, Senator Abubakar Kyari, noted that the program not only addresses immediate food needs but also creates a sustainable link between farmers and consumers, while health officials underscored its potential to alleviate health challenges related to food insecurity.
