Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, confirmed that the police stormed the kidnappers' hideout, resulting in a shootout. While two suspects were killed, others managed to escape, sustaining injuries.
A comprehensive search of the hideout yielded not only the firearms and ammunition but also two mobile phones and the cash, which police suspect is part of the gang's ransom proceeds.
The deceased suspects' bodies have been sent to a morgue for autopsy as the police intensify efforts to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang.
Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, praised the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for their professionalism and operational effectiveness. He reaffirmed the command's commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes, declaring Ogun a hostile environment for criminal elements.
