Ogun Assembly Kicks Off Q2 2026 Budget Review to Enhance Government Accountability

The Ogun State House of Assembly, through its Committee on Finance and Appropriation, is set to begin its appraisal of the 2026 budget performance for various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) on Monday, August 31, 2026.

According to a statement from Mr. Sakiru Adebakin, Clerk/Head of Legislative Service, the assessment will cover the second quarter (January to June) and will run until September 8, commencing each day at 10:00 AM.

This budget appraisal is part of the Assembly's constitutional responsibilities aimed at evaluating how well government entities are adhering to the 2026 Appropriation Law. The exercise is designed to ensure that government resources are utilized efficiently in policy and project implementation.

All heads of MDAs have been urged to prepare relevant documents and participate in the review process as previously scheduled. This initiative reflects the Assembly's commitment to transparent governance and accountability.

The review comes at a critical time as Nigeria prepares for upcoming elections, emphasizing the importance of responsible financial management in public service.

As the Assembly gears up for this significant exercise, it aims to foster greater accountability and ensure that the interests of Ogun State residents are prioritized in government operations.
