Obi-Kwankwaso Movement Launches Cross River Secretariat Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Obi/Kwankwaso Movement has officially inaugurated its Cross River State executive members and unveiled a state secretariat in Calabar, positioning itself for the upcoming 2027 general election.

This initiative supports the Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso. The event, which took place on Saturday, attracted party leaders, local government coordinators, and enthusiastic supporters, all undeterred by heavy rain.

Jackie Wayas, the National Convener of the movement, celebrated the turnout as a testament to the commitment of supporters. “Today marks the beginning of a new direction for the people of Cross River State. Come rain, come sunshine, we are here to reposition Nigeria,” she declared.

Wayas urged members to mobilize voters in their local areas, emphasizing that increased votes for Obi and Kwankwaso would pave the way for a new Nigeria. “This requires the collective effort of all well-meaning OK Movement supporters,” she added.

Egwu Arong, the State Coordinator, welcomed participants and highlighted that the new secretariat would facilitate organization and grassroots mobilization. “This is a working home for coordination, documentation, and political action in support of our Presidential Candidate,” he stated.

The movement aims to enhance coordination from the state level to polling units, actively engage youth and women, and promote respect for law and order. Members were encouraged to register voters and stand firmly with NDC candidates.

Goddy Akpama, the State Chairman of the NDC, expressed confidence in the party’s readiness for the elections, vowing to field credible candidates focused on economic reform. “Today, you walk the streets and can hardly see a Nigerian smiling. We will ensure that votes translate into good governance,” he affirmed.

Stella Archibong, the NDC's Deputy Governorship Candidate, called for action rather than mere dialogue. “The new Nigeria is possible. Our vote is our power. Let’s vote NDC all the way,” she urged supporters.

Cletus Amawu, Chairman of the Planning Committee, closed the event with a promise of vigilance during the elections, emphasizing that their votes would count.

As the 2027 elections approach, the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement is mobilizing its base in Cross River to create a significant impact at the polls.
