Sule condemned the alleged misconduct as a grave betrayal of trust, emphasizing that such actions undermine the healthcare needs of the community. He tasked the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Gaza Gwamna, with investigating the matter and ensuring accountability.
The equipment in question was donated by Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad, the local lawmaker for Umaisha/Ugya Constituency, who personally financed the purchase to enhance conditions at the primary healthcare facility. Among the donations were mattresses and fans aimed at improving patient comfort.
However, following a recent visit to the hospital, Sa’ad discovered that the equipment was missing, leading to a confrontation with hospital staff. In a viral video, an visibly frustrated Sa’ad questioned officials about the whereabouts of 50 orthopaedic mattresses and over 90 fans that he had donated.
“Where are the ceiling fans? Where are the standing fans? I bought them for the patients!” he exclaimed, expressing deep concern for the well-being of those relying on the facility for care.
Governor Sule expressed disappointment over the situation, stating, “This is a terrible thing that happens when you have people who do not mean well for Nasarawa State.” He has stated that he expects a detailed report from the Commissioner for Health by the end of the week.
The governor’s directive marks a significant step toward restoring integrity in the state’s healthcare system. An investigation by the Ministry of Health will follow to assess the situation and determine accountability for the alleged wrongdoing.
