Davido Clears the Air: Osogbo Attack Not Linked to Adeleke Family

Afrobeats sensation Davido, born David Adeleke, has distanced himself and his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, from recent violent events in Osogbo. The incident occurred outside the Ataoja of Osogbo's palace, where suspected hoodlums clashed with the governor's security team.

In a post on his official X account, Davido stated, “It was a fight outside the palace that had nothing to do with us! The people love excellency!” This clarification came shortly after reports surfaced of an attack on the governor's convoy following his visit to the monarch.

Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene as gunfire erupted for approximately 12 to 15 minutes between the assailants and the governor's security personnel, causing panic among traders and local residents. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Osun State Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, confirmed the incident, asserting that the governor’s security successfully repelled the attackers. “They are hoodlums, and the governor’s security repelled them. 

They attacked the governor’s convoy at Ataoja’s palace. No casualty,” he said.

The attack coincided with Governor Adeleke receiving his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, marking a significant moment in his re-election campaign. 

Despite the violence, the mood among supporters remained positive, as Davido emphasized the continued support for his uncle's leadership.

 The singer's swift response aimed to quell any speculation linking the family to the unrest.

As the situation unfolds, authorities are likely to increase security measures to ensure the safety of public figures and citizens alike in Osogbo. 

This incident serves as a reminder of the political tensions that can erupt unexpectedly and the importance of clear communication in times of crisis.
