Timi Dakolo Denies UK Tour Debt Allegation, Threatens Legal Action Over Defamation

‎Singer Timi Dakolo has denied allegations that he owes £4,106 to UK-based entertainment promoter Revolve Entertainment over expenses incurred for a proposed concert tour in the United Kingdom, describing the claims as false and defamatory.
‎The singer's legal representatives, Whitestone Solicitors and Consultancy, issued a statement on Friday rejecting the allegations and warning that legal action could be taken against Revolve Entertainment and its representative, Otis Ayodele Kubeyinje, popularly known as Baddest DJ Timmy.
‎According to the lawyers, the disputed sum allegedly covered expenses including venue bookings, graphic design, website development, domain registration, visa deposits, video production and consultation fees. However, they insisted Dakolo bears no contractual responsibility for those costs.
‎The legal team explained that both parties had signed a performance agreement for the planned UK tour, which clearly assigned responsibility for production logistics and related expenses to the promoter. These obligations, they said, included securing venues, providing sound and lighting equipment, arranging local production, handling transportation and accommodation, and covering visa-related costs.
‎The lawyers further maintained that the agreement did not require any advance payment to Dakolo. They added that only approved advertising and promotional expenses could be recovered, subject to prior consent from the singer and his management.
‎They attributed the cancellation of the proposed tour to Revolve Entertainment's alleged failure to meet essential production standards required for a live performance. According to the statement, the technical arrangements presented by the promoter fell below the professional requirements expected for Dakolo and his band.
‎The solicitors argued that because the promoter allegedly failed to fulfil its contractual obligations, Dakolo cannot be held liable for expenses voluntarily incurred by the company or costs that were expressly assigned to the promoter under the agreement.
‎The statement also dismissed suggestions that the singer failed to promote the tour, explaining that no public announcement was made because the promoter had not completed the necessary preparations required before any official promotion could begin.
‎Beyond the contractual dispute, Dakolo's legal team accused Revolve Entertainment and Kubeyinje of making defamatory statements against the singer on social media. They alleged that the promoters published insulting remarks, falsely portrayed Dakolo as dishonest and disclosed private information relating to his residence.
‎The lawyers further claimed that the singer had been subjected to repeated harassment, intimidation and cyberbullying through online publications, actions they described as violations of both Nigerian and UK laws governing defamation, privacy and harassment.
‎They disclosed that Dakolo is considering legal proceedings in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom against those responsible for the publications, seeking to protect his reputation, privacy and personal security.
‎As part of their demands, the solicitors called on Revolve Entertainment and its representatives to immediately stop making or circulating defamatory statements, remove all offending publications, issue a public retraction and tender a written apology within seven days using the same platforms where the allegations were made.
‎The legal team warned that failure to comply within the stipulated period could result in civil and criminal proceedings before the appropriate courts and regulatory authorities in both jurisdictions. At the time of filing this report, Revolve Entertainment and Kubeyinje had not publicly responded to the latest legal demands.
