Residents Urge Urgent Completion of Mowe-Ofada Road to Alleviate Traffic Woes

Motorists and residents in Ogun State have called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to expedite the completion of the second section of the Mowe-Ofada road, highlighting the urgent need for improved road safety and reduced travel delays.

The unfinished stretch of the road has become a significant concern for local commuters, causing extended delays, frequent vehicle breakdowns, and rising transportation costs. Residents expressed their frustrations during interviews with NAN, emphasizing the impact on their daily lives.

Commercial driver Mr. Johnson Fadeyi pointed out that the deteriorating condition of the road has decreased his daily trips, as the rough surface increases vehicle maintenance costs. "We face serious problems on this section, especially during the rainy season. I appeal to the governor to find a lasting solution," he stated.

Commuter Mrs. Bimpe Olaitan echoed these sentiments, noting that the poor road conditions have subjected passengers to unnecessary hardships during peak hours and adverse weather. She urged the government to prioritize the completion of the road to ease travel for the community.

Transporter Kadiri Bala highlighted the economic ramifications, stating that the damaged road has hindered the movement of goods and services, thereby affecting local businesses in Mowe, Ofada, and surrounding areas. "Completing this road is essential for boosting economic activities and improving connectivity," he said.

Pastor Sunday Famuyiwa, a resident, called for immediate palliative measures on the failed sections of the road until full reconstruction can be achieved. He expressed confidence in the current administration’s commitment to infrastructure development but urged for more swift interventions.

"Timely completion of the second section will enhance transportation, promote economic growth, and improve the quality of life for thousands of residents who use this corridor daily," Famuyiwa added.

The appeals come amidst ongoing infrastructure challenges in the region, with residents hopeful that their concerns will be addressed promptly. The Mowe-Ofada road is crucial for facilitating movement and commerce, making its timely completion essential for community development.
