Oyo APC Governorship Candidate Alli Promises Unity and Educational Reforms

 Ahead of 2027 Elections
Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Oyo State in the upcoming 2027 elections, has declared that his efforts to reconcile aggrieved party members are already showing positive outcomes. Speaking during a program hosted by the Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Alli expressed optimism that the APC would emerge as a cohesive political entity for the next general election.

Alli, representing the Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, emphasized unity as a key priority following his nomination. He detailed ongoing consultations with various stakeholders, including aspirants and influential leaders within the party. He noted that President Bola Tinubu has also intervened, tasking former governorship candidate Teslim Folarin with facilitating reconciliation efforts.

“We are making deliberate efforts to unite the APC. Meetings have been held with candidates and members of the G-6 bloc, and I believe that we are resolving the crisis. The party will emerge stronger and more united,” Alli stated.

In his vision for education, Alli pledged to restore quality public education by limiting class sizes to a maximum of 30 pupils in primary and secondary schools. He committed to upgrading school infrastructure and ensuring free, functional, and quality education from primary through secondary levels.

“Quality education begins with a conducive learning environment. We will ensure that every child enjoys free and quality education,” he asserted.

Additionally, Alli plans to enhance technical and vocational education by establishing and strengthening technical colleges across the state. He aims to integrate practical skills training into tertiary institutions to equip the youth with employable skills, thereby promoting entrepreneurship and reducing unemployment.

“All graduates must possess practical skills as this is crucial for industrial growth and youth employment,” he added.

On local governance, Alli stressed the importance of efficient local government councils in driving development and enhancing service delivery. He believes that effective local governance is foundational for impactful governance at all levels.

“Development starts from the grassroots. If local governments function effectively, it will make governance more impactful,” he remarked.

Alli also addressed security concerns, advocating for the strengthening of neighborhood watch structures and the biometric registration of all residents in the state. He proposed creating a comprehensive database, including fingerprint records, to bolster intelligence gathering and support security agencies in combating crime.

“A comprehensive database of residents will significantly improve our security architecture,” he explained.

The senator emphasized that education, security, youth empowerment, and efficient local government administration will be the cornerstones of his administration’s first 100 days in office, should he be elected. He expressed confidence that these proposed reforms would position Oyo State for sustainable growth and development.

As the election approaches, Alli’s commitment to unity within the APC and his ambitious educational and security initiatives have set the stage for what he hopes will be a successful campaign and a transformative administration.
