5,513 Students to Benefit from Senator Adeola's Scholarship and Bursary Initiative in Ogun State

 Senator Solomon Adeola has announced that 5,513 students will receive support through the 2025/2026 edition of his scholarship and bursary scheme, aimed at alleviating financial burdens on students across Ogun State.

Speaking at the scheme's third edition event in Abeokuta, Senator Adeola emphasized the importance of responsible spending, urging recipients to allocate funds towards educational expenses rather than luxuries. "This initiative is designed to ensure that no deserving student from Ogun West, and indeed Ogun State, drops out of school due to financial challenges," he stated.

As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Adeola highlighted that the program aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in supporting the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). He reiterated that quality education is vital for national development, attributing his own success to educational opportunities.

The senator's initiative has seen significant growth since its inception, with 1,700 students benefiting in the inaugural 2024 edition, followed by 3,892 in 2025. This year, the program includes 1,735 scholarship recipients from universities who will each receive N200,000, while students from polytechnics and colleges of education will receive N150,000. Additionally, 3,577 students will benefit from bursary awards of N100,000 each.

Adeola expressed his commitment to the continuity and expansion of the scholarship and bursary scheme, reinforcing its role in enhancing educational infrastructure and legislative support for improved funding in education.

Professor Tope Popoola, Chairman of the Scholarship Board, assured attendees of a transparent selection process, stating that any application found to include false information would be disqualified. He emphasized the program's growth potential, envisioning it as a comprehensive state-wide initiative in the future.
