Independet Day Celebration: Policemen Disperse Anti-Buhari Protesters In Abuja

In  the early hours of Friday,1st October,2021,angry protesters stormed the Dantata Bridge on the popular Airport Road in Abuja, demanding that President Muhammadu Buhari must go. the seat of power.  

The protesters against Buhari’s administration insisted that the President must leave the seat of power.just as the country commemorates its 61st Independence Anniversary.

The placard bearing protesters, chanting ‘Buhari Must Go,’ made bonfires on the highway.

Armed policemen  were seen dispersing the protesters. The security men fired tear gas canisters to send them away  from the venue. 

Meanwhile,First Awareness could not ascertained the cause or causes of the protest but some placards they displayed read "Bihari must Go"

It cannot be ascertained if anyone of the protesters was ikilled, injured or arrested as of the time of filing this report.

It was recalled however,that Omoyele Sowore, human rightsactivist, had on Thursday disclosed that Nigerians would protest across the country on independence day to reject President Muhammadu Buhari. 

In his message on Twitter, Sowore said, “I am urging all citizens and non citizens of Nigeria to boycott @MBuhari’s national “INDEPENDENCE DAY” broadcast scheduled for tomorrow, instead you should partake in protests across d country tomorrow to reject this man, the Failure-In-Chief of the Federal Republic."
