Taking to social media on Monday, Edwards urged Carter Efe to stop fighting "lesser opponents" and accept a “real challenge.” He claims to have previously challenged Efe after his first bout but feels the streamer has avoided their matchup despite having fought three times.
“@carterefe, stop the cap. Now you’re saying you want to fight ‘real men’ and ‘real fighters’…I’ve been right here the whole time,” Edwards stated, emphasizing that he is ready for a showdown.
Edwards acknowledged that while Efe is pursuing commercial opportunities in boxing, he believes the fans deserve a more substantial contest. “Give the people value for their money. You don’t fight enough now,” he said.
He revealed discussions with Dr. Eazy Adamu and Balmoral Promotions about staging the bout, expressing confidence that it would be a fight fans want to see.
Edwards stated he would focus on his own fight scheduled in Dubai on November 7 before facing Efe, calling it a match that would excite Nigerian audiences. “Let’s give Nigeria the fight they actually want. Machine Mike vs Carter Efe,” he wrote.
In his challenge, Edwards directly addressed Efe, saying, “You say you want a real fighter? I’m not hard to find. Quit ducking me.”
Carter Efe has previously expressed his desire to fight international opponents after his recent wins, stating he wants to compete against “real boxers” like Floyd Mayweather.
Edwards' challenge adds another layer of excitement to the growing trend of celebrity boxing matches in Nigeria, as fans eagerly await a potential showdown between the two stars.
