The Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO) has labeled the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council a “Nebuchadnezzar Coalition,” predicting its imminent failure in the 2027 general elections.
According to the MDPCO, the APC's reliance on influential politicians to disguise the shortcomings of President Bola Tinubu's administration will not sway public opinion. The campaign organization argues that the expanded APC campaign council cannot win over a populace suffering from economic hardship, insecurity, and rising unemployment.
Richard Ihediwa, the MDPCO's Director of Strategic Communications, stated, “This ‘Nebuchadnezzar Coalition’ is headed for the rocks. It cannot whitewash the failures of the APC administration nor rewrite the painful realities confronting citizens.”
The organization challenged the APC to address the widespread poverty affecting Nigerians, citing alarming statistics from the World Bank and the Federal Government. They reported that 140 million Nigerians—63% of the population—are experiencing multidimensional poverty, while 113 million lack basic health and educational resources.
Highlighting the severe educational crisis, the MDPCO noted that 70% of Nigerian children under 10 cannot read or comprehend a simple sentence. “What explanation will the APC-led coalition offer to families going to bed hungry or to our youths facing rampant unemployment?” they questioned.
The MDPCO accused the current administration of exacerbating hardships while surrounding itself with politically influential allies lacking genuine public support. They dismissed the size of the APC campaign council as irrelevant, insisting that voters will focus on the government's record.
“Elections are won not by the size of a campaign council but by the confidence of citizens,” the statement emphasized. The organization reiterated that Nigerians have the constitutional right to demand accountability and change at the ballot box.
Confident in their candidate, Seyi Makinde, the MDPCO touted his RESET NIGERIA agenda as a viable alternative focused on accountability and prosperity. They asserted that the 2027 elections would reveal whether the APC's political machinery could withstand public discontent.
As the 2027 elections approach, the MDPCO remains steadfast, ready to challenge the APC's narrative and advocate for the change Nigerians desperately need.
