The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a critical alert to prospective students, cautioning them against accepting admission offers outside its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). This warning was shared on social media, emphasizing that offers not processed through CAPS may not be valid.
In a post on X, JAMB advised candidates to verify their admission status via CAPS before accepting any offers. “An admission offered by an institution outside the approved JAMB admission process may not be recognised as valid,” the board stated.
Accepting unauthorized offers could jeopardize candidates' academic pursuits and complicate their admission records. JAMB's warning is part of its ongoing efforts to educate students about the risks of illegal admissions.
“Your admission journey deserves the right foundation. Verify before you accept,” JAMB added, promoting an episode of its "JAMB Explained" series, which delves into what constitutes illegal admission and how candidates can protect themselves.
CAPS was designed to streamline and automate the admissions process for tertiary institutions. The platform enables candidates to check their admission status and accept or reject provisional offers, while ensuring institutions follow the approved procedures.
According to JAMB's 2026 admission guidelines, all offers must be processed through the board and available on its e-Facility platform. “Any offer of admission from any tertiary institution without a JAMB Admission Letter is illegal and is not recognized by the Board,” the guidelines assert.
Candidates are urged to be vigilant, as JAMB will not recognize or condone any admissions accepted outside of CAPS. Those who ignore this warning do so at their own risk.
As the admission cycle continues, JAMB remains committed to safeguarding the integrity of the educational system and ensuring that students follow the proper channels for their academic journeys.
