Igbo Group Predicts Landslide Victory for Peter Obi in 2027 Presidential Election

The Igbo Heroes and Icons Foundation (IHIF) has confidently forecasted a sweeping victory for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in the South-East during the upcoming 2027 elections.

This bold declaration comes in response to recent comments from Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, who claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would secure significant support in the region.

In a statement signed by National Coordinator Chinedu Nsofor, IHIF emphasized that Obi embodies the South-East's aspiration for an Igbo president. The foundation argues that the call for an Igbo presidency is rooted in principles of fairness, equity, and justice—not in opposition to other ethnic groups.

Historically, the South-East has backed presidential candidates from various regions, including Shehu Shagari, Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, Goodluck Jonathan, and Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The foundation points out that, despite decades of support, the Igbo have yet to hold the presidency since Nigeria’s independence.

“After watching presidential power shift through different regions, it’s time for the Igbo to have their chance,” the statement asserted.

IHIF urged other opposition candidates to rally around Obi and called on political leaders to support the South-East’s quest for equity. “Nigeria belongs to all of us, and 2027 is the moment to grant the Igbo their turn,” the group declared.

The sentiment echoes a growing desire within the South-East for recognition and representation at the highest levels of government.

As the political landscape heats up ahead of the elections, the call for an Igbo presidency is likely to gain more traction, positioning Obi as a formidable candidate for 2027.

The foundation's message is clear: it’s time for the Igbo people to take their rightful place in Nigeria’s leadership.
