Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the First Lady of Lagos State and Chairman of COWLSO, announced the event's theme, “ANCHORED IN PURPOSE, BE THE BLUEPRINT,” during a press briefing. This final edition for Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration aims to foster discussions on women's empowerment and leadership.
The conference will feature a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and unlimited virtual participation, making it accessible to women nationwide. “This approach enables us to connect, learn, and share experiences across various platforms,” Dr. Sanwo-Olu stated.
The First Lady emphasized the importance of purposeful leadership and the responsibility women carry to leave positive legacies in their communities and workplaces. She encouraged attendees to look beyond personal achievements and focus on the impact they can make in the lives of others.
Registration for the physical conference is set at ₦150,000 for a capped 3,000 participants, while virtual attendance is available for ₦50,000 with no limit on numbers. Registration opened on September 15 and will close on October 15, 2026, with late registration options available.
Highlighting the conference's outreach efforts, Dr. Sanwo-Olu announced a Pre-Conference Walk titled “Blueprint in Motion: From Vision to Action,” scheduled for October 10, 2026. This walk will traverse significant landmarks on Lagos Island, connecting the conference theme to the city’s rich cultural heritage.
“This initiative aims to raise public awareness and extend our message beyond the confines of the conference,” she explained.
The three-day event will kick off with an opening ceremony and keynote lectures, followed by additional discussions and presentations, culminating in the traditional COWLSO Gala Night. The final day will include a closing ceremony reflecting on insights and commitments from the conference.
Expected attendees include government officials, entrepreneurs, academics, and community leaders, fostering a diverse environment for networking and collaboration. Dr. Sanwo-Olu urged participants to come prepared to learn and act, emphasizing the transition from intention to tangible impact.
With a focus on purpose and legacy, the 26th National Women Conference promises to be a pivotal moment for women in Lagos, encouraging them to reflect on their journeys and the footprints they leave for future generations.
