Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, announced the arrests via a statement from the Command’s headquarters in Abuja. She emphasized that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to enhance security for residents.
The suspects are currently undergoing “thorough screening and profiling,” with any offenders set to face legal action. Those cleared of wrongdoing will be released after the necessary checks.
During the raid, authorities recovered various illicit items, including knives, a toy gun, cannabis, and other drugs. The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, reiterated the command's commitment to intelligence-led policing, particularly in areas identified as potential criminal hideouts.
Sanusi urged the community to steer clear of drug abuse, warning that substance misuse can lead to impaired judgment and increased criminal behavior. He encouraged those struggling with addiction to seek counseling and rehabilitation rather than turning to crime.
Moreover, the Commissioner reminded police officers involved in operations to maintain professionalism, emphasizing that any misconduct related to extortion or harassment will result in disciplinary action.
The FCT Police Command continues to emphasize the importance of community collaboration in ensuring safety. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities and provide information about potential criminal hideouts.
For emergencies or to share useful security information, the public can contact the FCT Police Command at the designated emergency line. This latest operation reflects the command’s ongoing dedication to protecting lives and property within the capital.
