The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Garba Dutsinmari, who confirmed that Ummu District was formed from the Rafin Zuru District. The new district encompasses eight village areas: Paso, Sondoro, Denkre, Akwanchi, D’hava (Hato), Daklo, Ummu (Gari), and Bedi.
According to Dutsinmari, the establishment of Ummu District is in line with Kebbi State Local Government Law, 2008, which grants authority for the creation of districts and the appointment of district heads. The government has appointed Aliyu Ibrahim Gujiya as the district head, citing his proven track record and ability to serve the community effectively.
The commissioner urged Gujiya to approach his new responsibilities with discipline, honesty, and transparency. He assured the new district head of the state government’s support and expressed commitment to enhancing grassroots administration in the area.
This move is part of the state government’s broader strategy to bring administration closer to the people and promote peace and sustainable development throughout Kebbi. Dutsinmari emphasized the importance of strong governance in ensuring the well-being of local communities.
The creation of Ummu District reflects the government's dedication to improving local governance structures and addressing the needs of residents more effectively.
