Barau Calls for Unity Among Aggrieved APC Aspirants Ahead of 2027 Elections

In a bid to foster unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, Deputy Senate President Senator Jibrin Barau has urged aspirants who lost in the party's primary elections to accept the outcomes and rally behind the party’s candidates. 

Speaking at the inauguration of the Kano North Senatorial District Campaign Council, Barau emphasized that the time for competition has passed, and now is the moment for all members to work together for the party's victory. His remarks were shared by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir.

The ceremony was attended by various APC leaders and supporters from the Kano North Senatorial District, marking a significant gathering of party stakeholders. Barau reiterated that divisions stemming from the primaries could undermine the party's chances in the upcoming elections.

“The primaries are over. All members remain part of the same political family, APC,” he stated. “I urge those who secured the party’s tickets to collaborate with those who contested but did not succeed.”

Barau highlighted the importance of party cohesion and the commitment shown by some defeated aspirants who attended the inauguration. Their presence, he said, signifies a dedication to the party’s collective success.

The Deputy Senate President tasked the newly inaugurated campaign council with mobilizing support across all 13 local government areas within the district. This effort will be crucial in backing President Bola Tinubu, himself, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and other APC candidates.

“This is an all-inclusive arrangement,” Barau noted. “Everybody is involved, and all stakeholders are part and parcel of this council.”

The council is chaired by Rabiu Bichi, the Managing Director of the Hadeja Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, who assured that the campaign will focus on all APC candidates, from presidential to local elections.

Bichi praised Barau as a strong candidate, promising the council would work diligently to secure votes for the party. He expressed confidence that seasoned politicians and grassroots mobilizers within the council would unite to achieve success in Kano North.

As the political landscape heats up ahead of the 2027 elections, Barau’s call for unity serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of collaboration within the party to achieve their electoral goals.
