In a decisive operation, troops from the 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, part of Operation WABAIZIGAN, have apprehended a suspected kidnapper, Olamide Oyeniyi, and seized an AK-47 rifle along with ammunition on the Benin-Sapele Road in Edo State.

The arrest, made on September 12, 2026, in Obaretin Community, highlights ongoing efforts to combat criminal activity and secure major transportation routes.

The military recovered not only the weapon but also a Tecno mobile phone, assorted charms, and other items from the suspect.

The Nigerian Army remains committed to safeguarding communities and disrupting the operations of criminal elements in Edo State through coordinated security measures.

Further investigations are underway to establish Oyeniyi's connections to other criminal networks and potential involvement in kidnapping activities.
