Tinubu Extends Tenure of NTA, NAN Leaders for Three More Years

President Bola Tinubu has officially renewed the tenure of Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos as Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Ali Mohammed Ali as Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) for an additional three years.

The announcement came through a statement from Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy. Both Dembos and Ali were initially appointed on October 20, 2023, and their new terms will begin on the same date in 2026.

Dembos, hailing from Yola, Adamawa State, has a rich history in media. He began his career at NTA as an announcer after completing his National Youth Service in 1989. Over the years, he climbed the ranks, serving as General Manager in various NTA branches before his retirement in 2017.

Ali, a seasoned journalist with over three decades of experience, is recognized for his insights into media evolution and digital content development. He holds degrees in English, International Affairs, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communications.

In the statement, Tinubu called on the two executives to uphold their commitments to their organizations and contribute positively to the government's Renewed Hope Agenda.

This renewal underscores the administration's confidence in their leadership, as both Dembos and Ali are expected to drive significant advancements in Nigerian media.

As their first terms conclude on October 20, 2026, the renewed appointments highlight the administration's ongoing focus on media integrity and progress.

The Presidency emphasized the importance of their roles in navigating the evolving landscape of communication in Nigeria, encouraging them to innovate and adapt to new challenges.

Their combined expertise is seen as crucial in promoting transparency and effective communication in the government's agenda.

With these extensions, the Tinubu administration aims to bolster the credibility and effectiveness of Nigeria's national media institutions.
