Lagos Chief of Staff Pays Tribute to Late Nollywood Icon Ogogo

Tayo Ayinde, Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, visited the family of the late veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, known as Ogogo, in Ilaro, Ogun State, to honor his legacy. The actor, who passed away on August 23, 2026, at age 66 after battling stage-four cancer, was revered for his contributions to Yoruba culture and cinema.

During the visit, Ayinde described Ogogo as a "cultural icon," whose extensive career helped elevate Yoruba identity and values through film and theatre. He emphasized the actor's significant role in promoting indigenous-language cinema in Nigeria.

The condolence delegation, part of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, aimed to support Ogogo's widow and family during their time of grief. Ayinde expressed deep sympathy, acknowledging the profound loss experienced by the Hassan family.
