Governor Adeleke Commissions 10.4km Road, Promises More Development Ahead of Elections

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially commissioned the long-awaited 10.4-kilometre Edunabon-Tonkere Road in Ife North Local Government Area, signaling the end of over 40 years of neglect in the region.

The announcement came via a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Rasheed, who noted that the new road is crucial for enhancing connectivity and stimulating socio-economic activities in the area.

Following the commissioning, Governor Adeleke engaged in a town hall meeting with traditional leaders from Ife North, where the Alakinlalu of Akinlalu expressed gratitude for the governor's commitment to development. "Your promise was met with action, and today we see the results," he praised.

At a campaign rally in Ipetumodu, Adeleke urged residents to stand firm against intimidation as the upcoming governorship election approaches. He emphasized the importance of voting, stating, “Osun belongs to us. Be bold, be fearless; nothing will happen to you.”

The governor also called on security agencies to uphold democratic values and condemned violence and voter intimidation methods employed by rival political factions. “We will use our votes to chase them out of Osun completely,” he declared.

Adeleke expressed confidence in his administration's accomplishments, stating, “I know we have already won, and by August 15, we will be celebrating.”

Deputy Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Akinyode Oyewusi, highlighted the administration's achievements, revealing that 18.2 kilometres of road projects have been completed in Ife North over the past two years.

The newly commissioned Edunabon-Tonkere Road is seen as a landmark achievement, enhancing movement and boosting economic activities in surrounding communities. Oyewusi also mentioned ongoing construction on other significant road projects, such as the 3.3-kilometre Market Square-Tollgate Road in Ipetumodu.

The Secretary to the Osun State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, joined the governor during his visit, marking his return after a brief police custody.

As Osun State prepares for the governorship election on August 15, with 14 political parties contesting, residents are hopeful for continued infrastructure development and improved living standards under Adeleke’s leadership.
