The case, initiated by Abimbola Olawunmi, an aspirant in the APC primaries, contested the results that led to Oyebanji's nomination. After a thorough examination, both the High Court and the Court of Appeal upheld Oyebanji's candidacy. The Supreme Court unanimously dismissed Olawunmi’s appeal, reinforcing the previous court decisions.
In a statement from the State Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, the APC declared, “This judgment has conclusively resolved all legal disputes surrounding the Governor’s candidacy and further solidifies the strong mandate he received from the people of Ekiti on June 20.”
The party congratulated Oyebanji on this judicial affirmation and praised him for his humility and focus during this legal battle, emphasizing his commitment to governance over distractions. “Despite the challenges, he has remained inclusive and dedicated to the people of Ekiti,” the statement noted.
